Carbowrap Tape is a non-woven bonded synthetic fabric, fully impregnated and coated with natural petroleum based compounds and inert fillers. It is chemically inert, does not polymerize or oxidize, and retains water resistance and dielectric properties over an indefinite period. Three different tapes are available depending on the service temperatures (130 °F [54 °C], 150 °F [66 °C], and 165 °F [74 °C] respectively). Carbowrap Tape is part of the Carbowrap system developed for the protection of metal surfaces in severe environments and difficult to protect applications. The Carbowrap System is designed to be applied over hand or power wire brushed surfaces for above ground, buried, and underwater applications. The typical system involves priming the surface with a paste (Carbowarp Paste), profiling around irregular shapes with a mastic compound (Carbowrap Mastic), and wrapping with a petroleum tape (Carbowrap Tape A, B, C or Marine Tape). An optional overwrap tape (Carbowrap Overwrap) is used for additional mechanical or electrical resistance.
